Divorce

Dear daddy, hear my silent plea;
Dear mommy, do not ruin my childhood glee;
The differences you have could wait;
My days as a child shall not;
Spears of anger you dwell with;
Pierced my innocent heart in a million places;
I could barely sleep through the night;
Hearing the loud voices from the kitchen;
Daddy and mommy please be quieter;
The whole world could hear your chatter.

I hear the word divorce;
A thousand times a day;
The way you say it with no remorse;
Breaks my world in so many different ways;
Daddy and mommy while your love ceases;
Me and my sister are left in shattered pieces.

Poor lil baby got no clue;
Her eyes so curious and brilliantly blue;
She chuckles like an innocent doll;
"Sissy, have you seen my bright yellow ball?"

Has anybody asked me what I want?
All I want is for us to be together;
Your ego and pride climbed the priority ladder;
Our happiness and peace were locked down forever.

If only you cared, just a lil bit;
You would see the pain my soul is in;
You would see how I cry myself to sleep;
You would see the tears rolling down my cheeks.

I see my friend and her happy family;
Her daddy buys her dolls;
And chocolates as treats;
Her mommy bakes her pie;
And rocks her to sleep;
All I crave for is just a lil love;
A sweet smile and a kind gaze;
A lovely home filled with never ending bliss;
To send me to sleep with a goodnight kiss.

I hear tomorrow we pack our bags;
To embark upon a journey of custody battles;
To be tossed around from one side to the other;
Like helpless birds with clipped feathers;
We are victims in your incessant ruckus;
Forget not, we are not your puppets.
